Soyez Reconnaissant

Dear friends,

Its been a while and I am truly sorry for the indecent break in communication (I know I apologized the last time), it’s just that I have been caught under the pressure of headlines and deadlines plus I was under the weather lately and that is precisely what I want to talk about.

I guess you are wondering what the topic of  today’s post means….It’s very simple really, read on and you’ll find out.

It was very funny really; I got up ‘normally’ to go through the motion of getting ready for work and I discovered I just could not get up, tried as much as I could I just couldn’t, I was weak to my bones. I had to call in sick which I don’t like doing at all but then I had to.

Then I thought about all the times I had taken for granted the fact that I could just ‘get up’ without thinking about it and get ready for work, church, outings et al, for all the things that I juggle together that I think I can do because ‘it’s me’, for all the headlines and deadline s on my plate I’ m able to attend to without going crazy (plus I had time to think about a lot of other things too). I remembered then that it is neither by power nor by might, nor because the alarm clock went off or because I’m used to waking up by 5am but it is by the spirit of the Lord whose life dwells inside of me and quickens my body, who renews my strength like that of the eagle’s…

We take a lot of things that we do for granted i. e sitting up straight, bending, walking, eating, getting up and going about our businesses without aid, laughing etc whilst forgetting that the very same things we can do very easily are the same things that keep people on hospital beds.

The moral of the story? Let’s not forget to thank God for these ‘little things’ that we take for granted and find seemingly easy to do so that we can get ‘bigger ones‘ according to the proverb, ‘Eni to ba dupe ore ana, aa ri ohun miran gba’ (The person who is grateful for blessings received will be inline to receive more)

And the meaning of the topic…Be Thankful (translated to French) and there’s no better time to do that than NOW! Yes, NOW! Go Ahead, Pause…for a while and Thank God for the things that you take for granted; For friends that love and think about you, for family, for life , health, strength, for the work that you do that at least helps you pays your bills, for sight, for a reason to laugh and smile and the list is endless…If you can think  it, Thank Him for it.

Just thought I should let you know…Cheers
